“The police received an anonymous call that a bomb has been planted at the Chawri Bazaar metro station. The service has been suspended for the time being and combing operations are going on,” a Delhi Metro official told IANS.

The call came around 8 p.m. This is the third bomb scare at the Chawri Bazaar metro station, on the Central Secretariat-Delhi University line, in the last one month. The last two calls were found to be a hoax.

“We will soon know whether there is any substance in the call. Strict security checks and combing operations are on as we are not taking any chance,” the official said.

Delhi Metro is the modern mass transport medium in the national capital. Currently, it ferries over 600,000 passengers on its 68-km network. Construction work is underway to add another 120 km to the existing network.
