New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray should be arrested and booked under treason law, said renowned historian Amresh Mishra in a statement issued from Mumbai.
The historian said the victims of the 2002 pogrom in Gujarat are still to get justice. This is the violation of Articles 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20, he said. Violation of an article in the constitution is tantamount to treason, he said. That is why he has demanded Modi be booked under the law.
In his statement, Mishra also demanded that Bal Thackrey should be booked under the anti-national law. Last week in his editorial in the Marathi daily Saamna, Thackeray had advocated Hindu suicide bombers to terrorise Muslims. He said if Hindus consider themselves nationalist, they should demand arrest of these two Hindu leaders.
Mishra’s book “Clash of Civilization” recently published has gathered applause from people. He has been recently appointed member of the Indian Council of Social Sciences by the Human Resources Development Ministry.
