“The Cambodian vessel Star-4 is registered in the port of Phnom Penh, all the crew are Russian nationals,” the spokesman said.

The vessel is being convoyed to Kamchatka for further investigation.

This year Russia has launched a crackdown on the illegal export of crab and other seafood and in May 2007 it banned the export of live crab. However, large volumes continue to be smuggled out of the country, primarily to Japan and South Korea.
