Manila : The five Filipino seamen hijacked with other crew members a Dutch cargo ship by pirates off the coast of Somalia in late May have been released, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday.
Reider Shipping, the Dutch owner of MV Amiya Scan, has confirmed that the hijacked vessel and its crew including the five Filipino sailors have been freed by the Sonali pirates, the DFA said in statement, citing Romeo Arguelles, Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands.
Arguelles said the Russian Captain has informed the Dutch company that all crewmembers are “in fine condition.”
Amiya Scan was seized by hijackers off the coast of Somalia on May 25.
