“As we have agreed with You during our meeting in Minsk, we will hold today a working meeting dedicated to economic issues,” Putin said as he welcomed Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in Moscow.

Putin and Tymoshenko last met in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, in late May, when they announced their countries’ readiness to launch talks on a strategic agreement for Russian natural gas supplies to Ukraine.

“I am sure there is a lot to talk about,” Putin said adding that the two countries have been recently enjoying positive trends in trade and economic relations, but some issues still remain to be of concern.

Tymoshenko said that both cabinets of ministers have been cooperating closely, adding that “there is a definite plan of actions, which we hope will be discussed today once again.”

The premiers are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation in key areas, such as energy, transport, aircraft building, space, the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and others.
