He said this in a meeting with PPP MNAs and MPAs including women and other party office-bearers at the State Guest House here on Sunday.

The Prime Minister said federal cabinet would be expanded and working of standing committees would be improved further to grasp the real problems of the common man.

“PPP believes in human rights and has progressive manifesto, and we will take forward the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to ensure real democracy in the country,” he vowed.

PPP secured public mandate in the general election for supremacy of the constitution, restoration of deposed judges and freedom of judiciary, he said, adding that party would come up to the people’s expectations.

Gilani said PPP was taking all its coalition partners into confidence while deciding about issues of national interest to pull the country out of prevailing crises.

The Prime Minister said that operation in tribal areas was started after taking on board the FATA parliamentarians and senators, and all other quarters concerned.

The respective provincial government went into peace agreement with tribal elders and the operation was started when the latter violated the pact, he added.

Gilani observed, “Islam, which always advocates peace, spread in the world not through aggression but through peaceful means.”

Unfortunately in Pakistan, he said, some elements were resorting to terrorism in the name of Islam, while assuming themselves as the only custodians of Islam and it was government’s responsibility to check out such elements.

The Premier said that PPP’s coalition government ensured a just distribution of funds to all the MNAs and MPAs, while encouraging the minority communities of the country.

Gilani assured that the matter pertaining to setting up of Lahore High Court Bench in Faisalabad, would be considered properly.
