Medical sources said among the last who had fallen in today’s clashes were two Palestinian sisters who lost their lives in an explosion of an Israeli tank shell in the region of Jabal Al-Rayess east of Jabaliya. The two victims, who were badly disfigured, were identified as Samah and Salwa Asalliah.

The sources put the number of the injured among the Palestinians at 55, including a number with serious cuts.

Most of the victims had fallen as a result of missiles fired by Israeli warplanes.

Medics are exerting great efforts to try aid the victims, braving intensive gunfire at the spots of clashes and attacks in the northern part of Gaza Strip.

A spokesman of the Israeli Army said at least two Israeli soldiers were killed and five others were wounded in today’s firefighting with the Palestinians in several locations close to Gaza city and Jabaliya.

The Palestinian fighters used rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) during the clashes and set off bombs close to tanks and military vehicles involved in the operations, the military spokesman added.
