The latest operation began before dawn on Saturday when Israeli tanks, supported by helicopters, targeted the crowded Jabaliya refugee camp, launching at least 10 missile strikes.

Witnesses said the latest fighting erupted after Israeli soldiers, backed by helicopter gunships, entered northern Gaza and were confronted by Palestinian police force.

The Israeli army confirmed its forces were operating in the area and five soldiers were wounded in the fighting.

Israeli leaders have committed war crimes in Gaza Strip killing women, children and infants.
