Tehran : President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad travelled to Baghdad Sunday on the first visit by an Iranian head of state to Iraq.
Ahmadinejad told reporters before his departure that the visit would be a “big step” in deepening bilateral ties.
He said the visit would serve peace and stability in Iraq as well in the region and “eventually benefit all relevant sides”.
Ahmadinejad was accompanied by the ministers of foreign affairs, energy, finance and road and transportation.
