Huawei bags $20 mn contract from BPL Mobile

New Delhi : Huawei Technologies, a leading Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Monday announced the bagging of $20 million contract from BPL Mobile, one of India’s leading mobile telecom services firm.

The deal marks Huawei’s foray into the dominant GSM space of mobile telephony in India.

As per the one-year contract, Huawei Technologies would supply GSM-based services that will assist BPL in expanding its network across Mumbai.

Mumbai-based BPL mobile has invested $50 million in network expansion and technology up-gradation. The company currently has over 1,000 cell sites and aims to add 300 more sites by the end of current fiscal.
