Singh was speaking at a function organized by the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to felicitate him on his 49th birthday. A commendation letter was also presented to him on the occasion.

Chouhan said making Madhya Pradesh a leading state of the country was his goal and he wanted the “fruits of development and progress to reach the last man in the last row”.

The chief minister said the government was considering giving to people the ownership rights of the plots where they are dwelling, except in public places. This would benefit hundreds of thousands of slum dwellers.

He said his concern was not confined to any particular class or section of society, but “special efforts are being made to ensure all-round development of the workers, farmers, women, children and other weaker sections”.

He also declared that panchayat of aged and disabled people would be held soon to elicit their views and make schemes beneficial to them.
