New Delhi : The batch of Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Lucknow students passing out this year has bagged 586 jobs offers, including 32 foreign placements, the institute said Friday.
“A total of 586 offers were made to 256 students, including 32 international offers. Final placements this year saw a number of consulting firms like McKinsey & Co., AT Kearney, Ernst & Young, Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers visiting the campus,” Pankaj Kumar, head, placement cell of IIM-Lucknow, told IANS via email.
He said one of the highlights was the number of investment banks that participated in the process this year, marking the “rise of IIM-Lucknow as a recruitment hub for investment banks, brokerage houses and trading firms”.
However, as a policy decision, the organisation did not disclose the salary packages being offered to their students.
Kotak Securities, ICICI Securities, Avendus Advisors, Edelweiss Capital and Angel Broking were amongst the other firms that chose IIM-Lucknow for their requirements.
As has been a trend in the past, Kumar said that the institute had attracted placements in the field of sales and marketing in some of the best organisations in the world.
Corporate houses like Proctor and Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Tata Group, ITC, Pepsi and Cadbury have also recruited students from IIM-Lucknow, he said.
“Placements began in November, with companies awarding Pre-Placement Offers (PPO) to their summer interns. The number of PPOs was 90, up from last year’s figure of 65,” Kumar said.
Candidates with prior work experience were hired for higher management profiles. A high point this year is that a leading telecommunication firm has offered the post of vice-president, the top B-school added.
Kumar attributes this to excellent pedagogy, competencies and values that students acquire at IIM Lucknow. “With the economy on a high, these students are bound to make the best out of it and lead the way towards a progressive nation,” he said.
