Agartala : The ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) led Left Front was Friday set to retain power for the fourth straight term in Tripura.
The Left Front won in 15 seats while the opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) won in one seat. Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury and his cabinet colleague Saifur Rahman have retained their seats.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is heading for a victory at Dhaunpur in west Tripura.
Tripura made electoral history when a record 92 percent of its 2.03 million voters exercised their franchise in the Feb 23 election to the 60-seat assembly.
Friday’s result of counting of ballots would decide the political fate of 313 candidates, including 31 women and 64 independents.
