Chennai : The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Sunday named two people as its nominees for the March 26 Rajya Sabha election.
The two new DMK members in the upper house of India’s parliament will be its party headquarters counsel A.A.Jinnah and the party’s Central Chennai district functionary and member of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Vasanthi Stanley.
Six Rajya Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu are falling vacant this month. The DMK will send two members to the house as it has 96 lawmakers in the state assembly.
The opposition AIADMK with 66 lawmakers will nominate one member.
The Congress and the CPI(M) have been respectively allotted two seats and one seat by the coalition leader DMK.
Nominations close March 15.
