At least 16 dead in Pakistan twin blasts

Islamabad : At least 16 people were killed in twin explosions Tuesday morning in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.

Dawn News reported that one explosion occurred near the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Office on Mall Road in the capital city of Punjab province.

The other blast took place at Block F of the Model town area in which four people were feared killed.

The report said the explosion at the FIA, which extensively damaged the building, took place when six suspects were being interrogated.

Hundreds of people were inside the seven-storey building at the time of the blast, it said.

The report quoted witnesses as saying that at least 11 bodies were pulled out from the debris, while many suffered injuries. Rescue teams were looking for survivors in the building.

There was no immediate official confirmation of the number of casualties.
