Sydney : Australian stocks fell 2.3 per cent Thursday on fears of another interest rate rise on the back of surprisingly strong employment figures for February, DPA reported.
The ASX200 index gave up 122 points, or 2.3 per cent, to 5,135.
Unemployment fell to a 33-year low of 4 per cent in February.
The shortening job queue raised speculation that a 13th consecutive interest rate rise may be in prospect.
