Tehran : President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that massive turnout of Iranians in the ongoing parliamentary elections disappointed foreign media that tried to discourage people from taking part in the process.
Speaking to reporters after casting his ballots for the 8th Majlis elections and the by-elections for the Expert Assembly, the president said, “Measures of those media will no loner affect neither Iranians nor other people of the world.”
President Ahmadinejad added those foreign media that tried to disappoint Iranians from taking part in the parliamentary election “are nothing but the mouthpiece of enemies of humanity.”
The Islamic Iran is respected by all nations, stressed the president who returned from Senegal Friday morning to attend the elections.
He was in the African state to participate in the 11th summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference which is being held in the Senegalese capital of Dakar on March 13-14.
President Ahmadinejad said he changed his visit agenda so that he could attend the voting along with his fellow countrymen.
“Enemies who are afraid of the spread of Islam all over the world have targeted its holy prophet, Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) with their insults,” said the president criticizing recent insults against Muslims’ holy prophet in European countries.
He stressed that those moves would have no impact on the world nations and that “Islam will eventually win hearts of all people.”
