Dubai : International Cricket Council will meet here Monday to discuss the appointment of its new chief executive, an official media release said.
Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Inderjit Singh Bindra is in race for the post.
Bindra, facing competition from two South Africans – Haroon Lorgat and Imtiaz Patel – will be looking to succeed Malcolm Speed.
“The current Chief Executive Malcolm Speed is set to step down at this year’s annual conference in June-July. The board will be asked to consider a recommendation from the four-person sub-committee tasked with overseeing the appointment of his successor,” the release said.
The four-person sub-committee comprise Ray Mali, the ICC chairman, David Morgan, the ECB head and Mali’s chosen successor, Creagh O’Connor who is Cricket Australia chairman, and BCCI president Sharad Pawar.
The ICC board will also decide the format of Cricket World Cup 2011, which will be jointly hosted by Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Zimbabwe.
A discussion relating to issues surrounding the Indian Premier League as well as the Indian Cricket League and the proposed Champions Twenty20 event will also take place, according to the release.
The ICC Board will be asked to approve the trial of more technology in aiding umpires in a Test series later this year.
