BSP national general secretary Narinder Kashyap said Sunday that party workers had already initiated a door-to-door campaign in the state, ahead of the elections.

“We are confident of registering emphatic wins in many of the constituencies (in the state),” he said

“Our direct contest is with Congress,” Kashyap told reporters.

Apparently, the BSP would be targeting the marginalized class vote bank in the Jammu region, which has a substantial population of Schedule Castes (SC) and Schedule Tribes (ST).

This has traditionally been part of the Congress vote bank.

In the 87-member state assembly, Jammu has 37, Kashmir 46 and Ladakh four seats.
