Manali (Himachal Pradesh) : At least 12 people were feared killed and many others injured when a landslide buried wayside shacks near a popular resort town in Himachal Pradesh Monday, the police said.
“The landslide took place at Nehrukund in Manali. The rescue operations are slow as more boulders and rubble continue to fall,” said Vinay Thakur, a senior government official here.
“So far three bodies have been recovered,” he said.
Locals involved in the rescue operations said the death toll at could be much higher.
The police are attributing the landslide to melting of snow at Nehrukund hot springs, some 10 km from here.
