New Delhi : A Congress activist was shot at by unidentified assailants allegedly over personal enmity with a fellow party member, Delhi Police said Wednesday.
The incident occurred late Tuesday when Imtiayz Ali, 30, was stopped near Cross River mall in Anand Vihar area of east Delhi by two scooter-borne assailants, who fired at him.
Ali, a president of Krishna Nagar’s sports unit, sustained bullet injuries on his thigh and was admitted to a government hospital. His condition was stated to be out of danger.
“The victim in his complaint has alleged Rajesh Sharma, one of his party colleagues, and others behind the incident. Ali said Sharma and he share enmity over posts in the party,” a police officer said.
“We have registered a case of attempt to murder, but no arrest has been made so far,” the official added.
