The Haryana boxer Tuesday stunned 2003 World Championship bronze medallist Nauman Karim of Pakistan in the light flyweight category.

He will next face less formidable Chinese Gao Linzhiof, who got a bye in the first round.

Jitender has a bright chance of booking his ticket to Beijing in this tournament, as all the three-medal winners in this category will qualify for Olympics.
