Baghdad : Four mortar shells were fired Wednesday at the strongly protected Green Zone in central Baghdad.
A source from the Iraqi Police told KUNA that one of the shells landed outside the Green Zone, near the Iranian Embassy in Salhiya district. It caused some damage in a residential building near the embassy, the source added.
However, extent of damage caused by the other shells which landed inside the Green Zone is yet to be known, he pointed out.
The US Army had announced that 12 missiles were fired on Tuesday from Al-Sadr city, some targeting the Green Zone and some the military bases in Baghdad.
