Jeddah : The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has welcomed the signing of the Sana’a Declaration by Fatah and Hamas and expressed the hope that this would bring the state of discord in Palestine to an end. In a statement, he hoped that the national dialogue would continue until the desired objectives of Palestinian national unity is achieved which would lead to the realization of the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, independence and the establishment of the Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Secretary General commended the efforts of the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh for sealing this agreement. Fatah and Hamas signed Yemeni-brokered reconciliation deal last Sunday, promising to renew discussions after months of hostilities.
