Peshawar : The maiden session of the NWFP Assembly Friday passed a unanimous resolution urging the federal government to conduct probe into the killing of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto by United Nations.
The resolution read out by PPP legislator Abdul Akbar Khan stated that the sacrifices rendered by late Benazir Bhutto for the cause of democracy, supremacy of the Parliament, judiciary and media were matchless. While paying glowing tributes to her democratic struggle, the resolution stated that Benazir Bhutto laid down her life for the cause of down trodden masses, uplift of the country. Allah Almighty rests her soul in eternal peace, it added.
It also demanded of the government to carry out probe in the high profile killing by the UN team in order to trace out the culprits involved in the tragic episode and could be brought to book.
Earlier PPP legislators Rahimdad Khan and Abdul Akbar Khan in their point of orders also upheld in high esteem the contribution of their leader for the promotion of democracy in the country. She played key role in giving freedom to the oppressed class of the society and provincial autonomy.
