Bhopal : Former Madhya Pradesh minister N.P. Prajapati of the Congress has been booked for allegedly giving Rs.1 million as bribe to a legislator to vote in favour of the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate.

Samajwadi Party legislator Kishore Samrite had lodged a complaint with the Bhopal police claiming: “Prajapati offered a bribe of Rs.10 lakh (Rs.1 million) to vote in favour of independent candidate Vivek Tankha in the Rajya Sabha elections.”

He deposited the money given to him with the police.

“The case has been registered under Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 123 of People’s Representation Act. However, no case has been registered against other Congress leaders named in Samrite’s complaint,” Bhopal Additional Superintendent of Police G.K. Pathak, who is inquiring into the matter, told IANS.
