This is the second major administrative reshuffle this month.

“The decision to transfer 31 IPS officials was taken Saturday night by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,” a source in the state personnel department said.

The 31 officers include 20 district superintendents of police (SP), the sources said. The SP of Nalanda has been transferred, while Malinda SP Amit Kumar has been made senior superintendent of police of Patna.

On March 16, the state government had transferred 67 IAS officials, including 29 district magistrates. Nalanda’s district magistrate had also been transferred.

Sources said the chief minister was reportedly unhappy over the way the district administration handled former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s visit to the site of the proposed Nalanda International University. Nitish Kumar had accompanied Kalam on the visit.
