Damascus : Syria Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Hosni Lutfi said Wednesday that Syria had completed the liberalization of the foreign trade after publishing the ‘negative list’ on banning the import of certain items for health, environmental, religious and security reasons.
The Minister added in a statement to reporters that this move came as part of economic reform steps started in the country in 2001, covering the financial, banking tourist and investment sectors with the aim of building a strong economy, open up and integrated into the world economy.
He added that his Ministry was going to publish on its website all the laws and information about the needed documents to do the paperwork and other important services.
The Minister said the Ministry had liberalized the import of about 20,000 items through decisions since last August.
