The Bihar government had failed to send the list by the last deadline of 30th March. Giving this information Irshad Hussain, convenor, Aqalliyati Chatravirti Morcha (Minorities Scholarship Front) said in his press statement yesterday that the state government has received a letter in this regard from the centre. The Department of Minority Welfares has also started to work to send the list within the extended time.

The centre has also directed the state government to make a separate head in its account so that the amount of scholarship can got deposited in that.

Welcoming this move of the central government, Irshad told that the list of students out of around 24,000 applicants cannot be prepared till now which is not a very big and complex work and can easily be done within 2-3 days. He appealed to Afzal Amanullah, Secretary, Department of Minority Welfares, to make available all required documents to the concerned office of NCM in time so that nearly 5468 students of minorities can be benefited with this scheme.

Due to the failure of the state government to submit the list of short-listed students in time, the fund allocated for this scheme in the state was going to lapse. The Morcha thanked all organizations especially Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Al-Khair Charitable Trust, Lok Parishad and Rabita Committee for speaking against the lapse of the fund.
