Baghdad : The US air force bombed a hospital in Sadr City district in the capital, wounding about twenty people, among them women and children.
At 10:00 local hour several missiles were launched by the occupation troops against the health facility, one of the three biggest of that locality.
They also destroyed the building and considerably damaged 17 ambulances, said witnesses and medical sources of the attack, confirmed a spokesman of USarmy.
“They will say it is a hidden weapons store but they really want to destroy the country’s infrastructure, to prevent staff and doctors from arriving to the hospital,” said the chief of health department Ali Bistan.
Witnesses told press of the terror they felt when projectiles intensively shook the building and assured that several medical equipments were damaged.
SadrCity, with about three million inhabitants, has been besieged for more than a month by Iraqi-US joint forces against Mahdi Army loyal to the Shiite clergy man Muqtada al Sader and opposed to foreign occupation.
