OIC Chief meets Ivory Coast Prime Minister

Jeddah : The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received the Prime Minister of Ivory Coast Guillaume K. Soro at the OIC General Secretariat here yesterday. They exchanged cordial talks and discussed ways to further improve bilateral relations between OIC and Ivory Coast. Their talks also figured topics such as the prevailing security situation in the African country, implementation of the political roadmap leading to presidential elections scheduled for 30th November 2008 as well as efforts for reconstruction and peace building in this OIC member state, according to an OIC statement. The reform of the OIC, the implementation of the Ten Year Program of Action, particulary the Special Program for the Development of Africa and the Poverty Alleviation Fund were also discussed.

The two leaders also reviewed the outcome of the Dakar OIC Summit held in March and examined ways and means for the effective implementation of the adopted Resolution on Ivory Coast, especially the convening of a Donors’ Conference in aid of the reconstruction of the war ravaged parts of the country. The meeting also attended the delegation accompanying the prime minister, including ministers, advisers and the Ivory Coast’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
