Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) : Police with the help of peasants have dug out at least 10 human skulls at the edge of a centuries-old fort in a Himachal Pradesh village, police said Monday.
Renu Devi and her family from Kamlah village were digging in the fields close to the 400-year-old Kamlah fort when these human remains were found Sunday.
Villagers suspect there could be more skulls in the region.
Police have ruled out these skulls being of recent times but are still consulting forensic experts and archeologists to examine the remains, said M. Chandra Sekhar, Mandi district police chief.
Ishwari Sen, who ruled the region, built the fort in 1625.
