Kasargod (Kerala) : Kerala police Monday arrested four activists of the National Democratic Front (NDF), a radical Islamic outfit, in connection with the April 17 murder of trade union leader P. Suhas.
Suhas, the Kasargod district vice-president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), was stabbed to death in Kanhangad, 40 km south of Kasargod town.
The murder took place following an outbreak of communal violence in Kasargod district last month.
The police identified those arrested as Shafir, 24, Shihab, 23, Rahim, 23, and Abdul Rehman, 23.
“We are yet to nab the prime accused in the case,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police P.M. Kuriakose, who heads the special investigation team probing the crimes committed during the communal disturbance.
“Now, we have arrested 15 people in four cases of murder in the district,” said Kuriakose.
Communal clashes broke out in the district following the murder of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist in Kasargod town, the district headquarters, April 15.
