Ramallah : Israeli forces arrested 25 Palestinians in the West Bank early Monday, local sources and Israeli radio reported.
The sources said some of the detentions took place in Bethlehemand Azzon, near northern West Bank city of Jenin. During the raids, weapons were found in a Palestinian house near Jerusalem, said the Israeli radio, adding that 25 detainees were taken for interrogation.
On Saturday, Palestinian security forces of President Mahmoud Abbas, upon a deal with Israel, deployed in Jenin to restore order in the region.
The detentions continued one day after a visit of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to the West Bank where she met Abbas and discussed ways of pushing Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
The Palestinian National Authority accuses Israel of blocking its efforts to carry out a key obligation under the U.S.-backed Road Map peace plan to maintain the West Bank security.
