Baghdad : At least five suspected militants were killed and eight wounded in a pre-dawn US air strike in Baghdad’s southern neighbourhood Monday, the police said.
“The US army has conducted an air strike at about 1.00 a.m. on the al-Amil neighbourhood,” an officer told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Five people were killed in the attack, including a family of three, he said, adding that the attack totally destroyed an apartment and caused damage to nearby buildings.
The US military had no immediate comment on the air strike on the Shia-dominated neighbourhood, which is also a stronghold of Mahdi Army militia loyal to radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
