New Delhi : Former minister of state for steel and party MP Akhilesh Das resigned out of frustration after he was removed from the council of ministers, the Congress party said Tuesday.
“Many people like him (Das) come and go without a ripple in the Congress. His comments (against a coterie surrounding Rahul Gandhi) were made out of frustration for not including him in the council of ministers,” said Jayanthi Natarajan, the Congress spokesperson.
Akhilesh Das resigned from the Rajya Sabha and the Congress Tuesday, blaming a coterie surrounding Rahul Gandhi for his move. He had been replaced by Jitin Prasada as minister of state for steel during the cabinet reshuffle in April.
“We reject the allegations with contempt. This is the worst kind of political opportunism. He has been Congress MP for the last 12,” Natarajan said.
