New Delhi : India is sending about eight tonnes of relief materials, aboard two Indian Air Force (IAF) cargo planes, for cyclone-hit Myanmar.
“Out of the two aircraft, one AN-32 belonging to the Para Training School, Agra, would be carrying four tonnes of tentage material from Kanpur to Yangon,” said Wing Commander Mahesh Upasini, spokesman of the IAF.
The other AN-32 aircraft would depart from Delhi with about four tonnes of medicines and tents to Yangon. Both planes are to leave Wednesday.
“Both the planes would refuel at Kolkata and are expected to reach their destination by afternoon,” he said.
Tropical cyclone `Nargis’ has claimed the lives of an estimated 22,000 people in Myanmar and several thousands are still missing.
