New Delhi : The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government assured its Left allies it will furnish clarifications on points they had raised Tuesday at a two-hour meeting on the safeguards agreement that India plans to finalise with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“The government will furnish the clarifications sought by the Left parties on the safeguards agreement in the next few days,” said External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee who heads the 15-member UPA-Left committee on the India-US nuclear deal.

The meeting remained inconclusive but the two sides agreed to meet again May 28.
