His wife Sandhya had registered a complaint against him under sections 498 (dowry) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kalkaji police station here.

Justice S.L. Bhayana quashed the FIR against Prabhakar after the lawyer appearing on his behalf, Sonia Kapoor, informed the court the two parties had arrived at a settlement and there was no need to conduct the trial.

Confirming the settlement, Sandhya’s lawyer Sunil Mittal said the former cricketer had paid Rs.500,000 to her.

Sandhya had approached the police in February 2006 alleging that Manoj was torturing her “in collusion with a failed Bollywood actress”.

The duo got married in 1986 and Sandhya alleged that her husband had moved in with the actress in a flat at Faridabad. Sandhya also charged Prabhakar with cheating her and illegally removing her from the post of co-director of a company the couple had set up.
