Ramallah : The PLO Executive Committee (EC) has affirmed that the ongoing settlement activities cause a main danger on the future of the Palestinian people and the entire peace process.
In a meeting chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah Tuesday, the EC rejected all Israel’s pretexts to justify expansion of settlements, calling on the US administration to exert efforts to halt settlements and implement the Annapolis conference undertakings as well as save the current political process from failure and collapse.
The EC condemned the Israeli occupation crimes, including assassinations against civilians, the continued siege and roadblocks.
It affirmed the continuity of the president’s efforts with the cooperation of brothers in Egypt to ensure the success of project to restore calm in the Gaza Strip, which the PNA and the presidency had called for since the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
The EC stressed that the gap is still wide between the Palestinian and Israeli positions on the final status issues, particularly borders, settlements, Jerusalem, refugees and security.
The EC stressed the compliance with the Fourth of June, including the West Bank and Jerusalem in its heart and without a separation between the West Bank and Jerusalem, or any part of the Palestinian land as well as the unity between Gaza and the West Bank.
It added that these are national basis and there is no room for bargaining or compromise in the ongoing negotiations, as well as progress in the negotiations must be based on the unity of all final status issues, where the agreement will not be achieved unless in full and comprehensive.
