Vienna : Iran’s Ambassador at IAEA said on the last day of preliminary session of Conference to Revise the NPT recent anti-Iran communique issued at this session should be appreciated as it revealed the fact that US, Britain and France have no honest intentions, or political will to solve problems peacefully, Iranian national news agency (Irna) reported.
These three countries, that are armed with nuclear weapons, along with China and Russia, on the last working day of the ongoing meeting read out a communique in which Iran’s uranium enrichment is referred to as a threat against the NPT.
That is while nuclear experts believe those countries’ not abiding by the agreements of nuclear disarmament is among the most important causes leading to weakening that international treaty.
Soltaniyeh reiterated, “Those five countries were expected to speak on why they have not abided by the disarmament requirements of the NPT, and to apologise before the world nations for having not scrapped their nuclear weapons, as they were obliged to do so in accordance with their international commitments.”
He expressed sorrow that those countries have deviated the matter from its real path to talk on Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme, adding, “Such stand takings can lead to destroying the constructive atmosphere among the treaty members and pose real threats against its future.”
Soltaniyeh also referred to the remarks made by US representative in response to the meeting on denying Washington’s cooperation with Israel on manufacturing nuclear weapons, arguing, “Having urged the US and its allies to respond to members’ ambiguities on not abiding by the NPT is all by itself an achievement.”
Soltaniyeh also asked the other Western countries to explain about their nuclear cooperation with Israel, and their non-abidance by Article 4 of the NPT on the need for cooperation with other NPT members’ peaceful nuclear programmes.
He, meanwhile, warned that Iran and other countries’ next move would be pursuing the international mechanism to seek the truthfulness of the US claim that it has no cooperation with Israel’s non-peaceful nuclear programme.”
Pointing out that the United States has led the previous NPT meetings to a dead end, Iran’s Ambassador said: “It is the United States that with its diplomacy and unilateral policies, takes hostage the multilateral and international policy making, and has wrongly assumed that the ongoing NPT meeting, too, is another UN Security Council.”
He emphasised, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has already mastered the nuclear technology and will never abandon its absolute nuclear rights, particularly in enrichment field.”
