Kolkata : At least one security personnel was killed and three were injured as a Border Security Force (BSF) vehicle was blown up in a landmine explosion by suspected Maoists in Purulia district of West Bengal Sunday evening.
“We have received preliminary reports that one of two BSF vehicles was blown up in a landmine explosion Sunday evening while it was returning from election duty,” West Bengal police inspector general (law and order) Raj Kanojia told IANS.
“Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from a nearby camp have rushed to the spot. We suspect Maoists are behind this explosion,” he said.
“One BSF personnel has died and three have been seriously injured in the blast,” he added.
The incident took place at Bandoan area. According to police sources, there were 12 personnel in the two vehicles returning after polling got over for the first phase of local body elections.
