Ranchi : Two security personnel were killed and three injured in a gun battle with Maoist rebels in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand Sunday, the police said.

According to the police, Charhi police station officer-in-charge Vinay Kant Thakur and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable Ramakant Tewary were killed in the gun battle that took place near Jodadag jungle, around 140 km from here.

Thakur, along with personnel of the CRPF and the state’s Special Task Force (STF), went to the forest area after getting information about the Maoist presence there.
