UAE, Russia to fight crime together

Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia Wednesday signed a plan for enforcement of their anti-crime cooperation agreement, WAM news agency reported.

According to the plan, the interior ministries of both countries will cooperate in the areas of counter terrorism, prevention of organised crimes, money laundering, financial crimes and smuggling of drugs, besides others.

Abu Dhabi and Moscow will create a joint taskforce to coordinate efforts for fighting organised crimes.

The two sides will enhance cooperation in training security and law enforcement personnel, exchange information and expertise in collaboration with the Interpol.

The agreement called for exchange of information about terrorist organisations, modus-operandi, such as execution of plans, illegal smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives.

The two countries will convene regular meetings and consultative sessions to implement the objectives laid down in the 2007 anti-crime cooperation agreement.
