The three – all from the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) – were part of the Z-plus security cover provided to Badal at his fortified residence in Sector 2 here.

One of the guards reportedly bit off the ear of another following an argument, though senior CRPF officials denied the incident.

The brawl, senior officials claimed, took place at the CRPF camp near the chief minister’s residence Wednesday night. Badal’s security cover has been beefed since then.

A court of inquiry has been ordered and the three CRPF men have been placed under suspension for this incident, said CRPF deputy inspector general A.S. Sidhu.

One constable sustained ear injury while another had lip injury. Both were rushed to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here and discharged after treatment.

Sidhu claimed that the personnel did not use rifle butts, daggers or sharp-edged weapons during their fight.
