Patna: In a surprising move, newly elected Rajya Sabha member Dr. Ejaz Ali dissolved All India United Muslim Morcha (AIUMM) and all the associated organizations on 19th May. While Dr. Ali called it a move for reorganization, others called it a dictatorial move.
Talking to TwoCircles.net (TCN) in Patna, Dr. Ejaz Ali said the dissolution was a normal process for the growth of the organization and it was necessary step to prepare for the next stage of his movement.
Meanwhile, Morcha leader Kamal Ashraf, general secretary of the Morcha Reyazuddin,and its state president Ghulam Sarwar Azad have criticized this step by Dr. Ejaz Ali. They argued that Dr. Ali’s move is unconstitutional as he failed to consult any member. They said this movement is not a personal fiefdom of Dr. Ejaz Ali and he has no right to disregard a number of people who have worked hard to make the issue of reservation of Dalit Muslims a national movement.
In a statement, these leaders said Dalit Muslim Liberation Movement, National Dalit Muslim Morcha, and Ghulam Sarwar Himayati Front are separate organizations and will continue to function as before.
Dr. Ejaz Ali did not give an exact reason for the dissolution of AIUMM. Talking to TCN, he said his election to Rajya Sabha in March has led to a new stage in the development of the organization. This could be achieved by reconstituting the 14-year-old organization. He explained that except him no one is associated with the organization anymore and in coming days he will meet the people and decide next course of action.
Dismissing the critics, Dr. Ejaz Ali said it is natural reactions from people who have been removed from their posts. He also suggested that he may leave the post of the national president of AIUMM.
He said the dissolution of AIUMM also means that all its constituent organizations have also been dissolved. He said he is used to struggling alone and will continue with his mission of getting Muslims the benefits of Article 341.
