New Delhi : Communist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet may be seriously ill but he still remains a fighter, says party colleague Sitaram Yechury.
According to Yehcury, doctors at the Metro Hospital at Noida took him off the ventilator Monday to see how he would react. “Remarkably, he started breathing on his own and he breathed smoothly for 20 minutes,” Yechury told IANS.
“He has been a fighter throughout his life. He remains a fighter. His blood pressure was even better than mine,” the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member quipped.
Sujeet, a former CPI-M general secretary, was admitted to Metro Hospital May 6 after a massive cardiac-respiratory arrest. His condition remains critical.
