Kuwait : The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah reiterated Thursday his full confidence in the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, whom he tasked two days back with the formation of the new government.
Speaking to “Al-Qabas” newspapers, the Kuwaiti leader added, “However, my confidence in some people has been shaken.”
He added, “I do not intervene in the cabinet formation. I review the list of names and approve the formation, but I have not imposed anything on Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad.”

On results of the parliamentary elections that took place on Saturday, the Amir said that “these are the choices of the people, and we are committed to what they have chosen … but I had wished with all my heart that a woman was among the winners.”
As for the general situation in the country, the Kuwaiti leader spoke of the prosperity and security that the country enjoyed.
The newspaper noted the commendation of His Highness the Amir for achievements of the previous government in the housing and health sectors, where hundreds of residential land plots were allocated for nationals, hospitals were constructed, and many services provided based on an emergency plan.
He said that some problems in Kuwait were the result of “Kuwaitization” of several state institutions without proper study, underscoring that it was in the best interest of Kuwait and its people to rebuild these institutions and correct what was undertaken in haste and without planning.
About his relationship with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti leader said,
“He is my nephew … how can I not have relations with my nephew?! ” objecting to claims that he was trying to force him onto the political arena by saying, “Would I force Ahmad Al-Fahad (onto the arena)? How can I force Ahmad Al-Fahad?!”
