New Delhi : School campuses in the capital were abuzz with mixed emotions Friday after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 results were announced. While many were happy, quite a few wanted a revaluation of their marks.
“I topped in my school but I was expecting more marks in Political Science,” said a somewhat disappointed Aarti Nanda, a student of Shiksha Kendra School in south Delhi.
“I have got an aggregate of 72 percent, with 68 percent marks in Political Science. I was so sure that I would get above 85 percent in Political Science, my favourite subject. I think I will give my results for revaluation,” she said.
Hardeep Singh, a student of Delhi Public School (DPS), R.K. Puram in south Delhi, also wants his English marks evaluated again.
“I have got 75 percent in English, which is shocking. I was so sure that I would get above 85 … even my teacher is quite disappointed. Although my aggregate is 92 percent, I am a bit disheartened,” he said while waiting for his batchmates outside school.
Although Singh is not sure if the reevaluated marks will make a difference in the admission process of the engineering institute he has applied to, he nevertheless wants it done for his “personal satisfaction”.
But his friend Budhaditya Bhattacharya, another DPS student, is overjoyed with the results.
A student of the science stream, Bhattarcharya scored a cool 94 percent aggregate in his exams.
“I am very happy with my results. Yes, I was expecting more in English, but then that’s alright. I am going to study engineering now,” he said, sounding upbeat.
This year, 549,344 candidates answered the CBSE Class 12 board exams in India as well as abroad – an increase of 9.18 percent since last year.
In Delhi alone, 160,414 students had appeared for the exams.
Sarika Jain, a student of Blue Bells school here, summed up the mood in her school: “None of my batch-mates are going for revaluation of their results. We are satisfied with what we have got.
“Now we will concentrate on which colleges to apply to … of course most of us want to get admission to one of the colleges in Delhi University. As for me, graduation in literature from Lady Shri Ram College would be a dream come true!”
