Washington : Senator Hillary Clinton’s campaign team is holding talks with legislator Barack Obama’s advisors to try to form a possible democratic presidential ticket, in which the ex First Lady aspires to the vice presidency, the CNN reported on Friday.
According to the television company, both politcians’ advisors are assessing the way in which Clinton will decline her aspiration to the White House, a maneuver that includes joining Obama in the ballot.
According to the CNN, the talks are in the very beginning and can be labeled as difficult, due to rivalry among senators, stressed by verbal attacks in both directions.
The television company said on Thursday Obama consideres that his nomination for the Democratic Party is assured, hence he started to look for a ticket partner.
Anonymous sources said the person in charge of proposing the possible vice presidential candidates is Jim Johnson, who played the same role in 1984 and 2004 for then candidates Walter Mondale and John Kerry, respectively.
After the primary elections on Tuesday in Kentucky and Oregon, Obama obtained the majority of the delegates elected by people’s vote for the party’s national convention, a forum that will nominate the democratic politician that will face Republican John McCain at the polls.
According to the specialized Realclearpolitic web site, the Afro-American senator counts on support by 1,963 commissioners, while Clinton only counts on support by 780.
To be nominated, a candidate needs at least the vote of 2,025 delegates in the party forum.
In the internal elections of the opposition organization, the pending states are only South Dakota, Montana, and Puerto Rico, scenes in which, according to the surveys and the count, it will be almost impossible for the ex First Lady to reach her rival.
